So... here's my new showreel :) It's been thrown together pretty quickly so please forgive the lack of polish. I'll continue to tweak and expand upon it

End of a chapter
Well... Blitz stopped trading yesterday. Alot has been said already, it's an early morning after a late night and I've got job hunting to do... so I'll type up my thoughts on the matter later.
Please ignore the showreel on here as it's well old I'll be throwing a new one up here later today (Friday the 13th*shudders*) gods and PC's permitting.
If the showreel and CV tabs don't appear - click 'greedybean' at the top left (must fix that).
Cheer up - here have a picture :)

Life Drawing
Pretty happy with these - enjoyed Blitz life drawing today and definitely feel like I'm making progress :) Today we were using charcoal and experimenting with some different approaches. Have been trying to concentrate on keeping energy in my line as well as committing to the drawing quickly - Mike Mattesi's Force book has been really helpful.
The work scanner seemed to hate these pics though stupid machine!! Wrinkliest pics evaar

Stuttgart
At the beginning of May I was lucky enough to go to Stuttgart to attend FMX for Blitz. I had a great time and learnt alot... the sketchbook took a hammering too so it's all good!

Life drawing at work
Recently Blitz have started doing life drawing for all artists during work time - how COOL!
We've all been loving this - it's great to sit down with all the animators and just think about gesture and loosening up. Life drawing afternoons are the BEST afternoons!
I've been really trying to push myself to loosen up recently - I'm trying to use ink more so I need to hit the line first time and push myself to worry about anatomy less and energy more.

So... *ahem* it's been a while!
Looking down the page I see that my last post was four days before this happened....
which I hope excuses me for having been a bit busy!! 18 months though - what a slacker!
I've never been the most prolific blogger but I find sharing my work helps motivate me to do a little more so I hope to start getting back into blogging a bit more

Spiderbot update
Rig by Ali Tezel
This has been such a nice little side project to work on - full of little challenges in bringing attitude to a character with quite a lot of limitations.
It started out as an exercise in keeping my workflow clean whilst keeping the motion snappy and appealing and I think it was pretty succesful. There's a couple of things I'd like to improve, but for now I'll be moving on...
Crits appreciated!

Squirrel
I plan to whip this one up in 3D soon using Josh Burton's Squirrely rig plan to implement a few changes first. Think I'd prefer it if it took a couple of steps and kind of did a wall run on the third platform before jumping onto the rope. I also plan to put a little tail twitch and wriggle when it's on the first platform before it makes a jump
Animator friends out there - any ideas on how I can improve this? :)

life drawing : Arthur
It's been a while so it was ace to get Monday drawing again. We did longer poses than usual which we enjoyed
I'm happy with some aspects of these but there's a lot I want to improve.

A couple of things in this worked- the dynamism of the tshirt folds and the hair which kind of happened as an after thought.

Reality
Here's some drawings I've knocked out whilst Lizzy's been watching X factor
Turns out reality tv's got its uses after all! :D
Something's been nagging at me recently to work on caricatures, so here's my first effort: Hitchcock

A couple of studies taken from a Rubens book - i mainly wanted to look at how i suggest form and attempt to use less straight lines when rendering. Unfortunately the only drawing implement i could find was an architectural type pencil- so it ended up being a bit linear.

Arthur
Yunno, life drawing can be really draining when it's not going well. Things just haven't been clicking for the last couple of weeks and I was starting to question why I even bother, when... bam! a really good session comes around!
I'm really happy with these results. Who knew all it would take would be getting some new paper, some new pencils, and pulling my fat head out my arse

Exploring outline. This was my biggest achievement- the first time in ages I've felt like I was able to capture the figure as one entity if you know what I mean, and in a pretty consistent style too. Bring on next week!

Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao
This is a trailer for a kick-ass XBLA kung fu game soon to be released by Blitz Games. I can't claim to have contributed much to the awesome in-game animations but had alot of input into the cutscenes and loved every minute of it. Working on this project was the most fun and I hit a real learning curve in terms of the strength of my poses and economy of action.
I was sorry to see this one go but would like to say well done to Ollie, Matt, Aron and the rest of the team and I can't wait to download it on XBox live, you should too!
