Yunno, life drawing can be really draining when it's not going well. Things just haven't been clicking for the last couple of weeks and I was starting to question why I even bother, when... bam! a really good session comes around!
I'm really happy with these results. Who knew all it would take would be getting some new paper, some new pencils, and pulling my fat head out my arse

5mins
Concentrating on fluidity
5mins
starting to use the side of the pencil more effectively. Messed the hand up a bit

10mins

20mins
Exploring outline. This was my biggest achievement- the first time in ages I've felt like I was able to capture the figure as one entity if you know what I mean, and in a pretty consistent style too. Bring on next week!

I keep making the same mistake of drawing the top and bottom half of the figure separately so they often don't look like they quite 'go'. Think I might make myself a viewing square or something to help see the figure in one piece. Never mind, I feel like I'm slowly improving :)

life drawing

So... it's been a couple of months since me and Owen have managed to set up a life drawing class at work, so I reckon it's about time to start posting some stuff. Hopefully I'll put up a couple of pics from every session. Please feel free to comment if you've got any advice / crit / tourettes
